Slack

Before you start

You need a Slack account in the workspace you want to connect.

Some workspaces only allow apps an owner has approved. If yours does, ask a Workspace Owner to approve Noumento.

On the Sources page, choose Connect next to Slack and follow Slack’s screen. Then open Slack on the Sources page and choose the channels Noumento may read.

What Noumento reads

From Slack and Microsoft 365 it reads messages only from the channels and mail folders each member chooses, and nothing is chosen for them.

In Slack it connects as the member, so it sees only what that member can already see.

Slack’s permission screen asks for access to direct messages, but Noumento does not offer direct messages for a member to choose.

You can choose public channels and private channels you belong to. Archived channels aren’t listed.

It does not download attachments or files from any source.

The connectors only read: they do not post, send, edit or delete anything in your tools.

How far back, and how often

When you first connect Slack, Noumento reads back about the last 30 days. After that, it checks your chosen Slack channels for new messages a few times a day.

If you delete something in Slack

Deleting a message in Slack does not remove what Noumento has already read from it.

Disconnecting

On the Sources page, choose Disconnect next to Slack.

Disconnecting a source stops Noumento reading it and deletes the stored credential, unless another of the member’s connections still uses it.

Disconnecting a source does not delete what Noumento has already read from it.

Disconnecting Slack in Noumento does not cancel the permission you gave Noumento in Slack.

To cancel it in Slack too, click your workspace name, then Tools & settings, then Manage apps. Under Installed Apps, open Noumento’s App Details. On the Configuration tab, find your name under Authorized members and choose Revoke. If you don’t see the option, ask a Workspace Owner.

Disconnecting Slack also stops your weekly review in Slack. Noumento keeps your choice, so the review starts again once you reconnect Slack in the workspace your company added Noumento to.

Your weekly review in Slack

If your team’s admin has added Noumento to your Slack workspace, you can get your weekly review in Slack. Noumento sends it as a message there, at most once a week, and only when you have things waiting for you.

You need Slack connected as a source, in the workspace your company added Noumento to.

When you can turn it on, This week shows a suggestion titled Get your weekly review in Slack. Choose Turn on, or choose Don’t suggest this again if you don’t want it.

You can also turn it on or off by going to Sources, then Slack. Under Weekly review in Slack, choose Turn on or Turn off.

Stop sending these, in any weekly review, turns your weekly review in Slack off. To turn it on again, go to Sources, then Slack, and choose Turn on under Weekly review in Slack.

When you turn on your weekly review in Slack, Noumento sends you a message there to confirm. The review is on only once Slack has accepted that message.

Your weekly review doesn’t show the wording of anything that might be sensitive. It says how many of those are waiting; you read them and decide on This week.

Deciding there does what the same decision does in the app.

A card with too many things for one Slack message shows only its heading and a line saying so. Open This week to decide on it.

Not getting the review in Slack shares nothing. What’s waiting stays on This week.

While your admin has Slack turned off as a source for your team, Noumento sends no weekly review in Slack.

Noumento doesn’t answer messages you type to it in Slack.

If your review is on but isn’t being sent, Weekly review in Slack on that page says so.

If your admin turns a source off

Your team’s admin can turn a source off for the whole team. While it is off, Noumento reads nothing new from it.
